AMD is known for its processors that compete with Intel, but it also plays in the graphical processing units (GPU) market where it competes with Nvidia. On Thursday, the company launched its Radeon R9 285 GPU in India for Rs 19,990.
According to AMD, the GPU brings the core functionality of its high-end Radeon R9 290 GPU to the Radeon R9 285. It has features like support for Project Free Sync, AMD EyeFinity technology, and AMD True Audio.
It supports the upcoming Direct X12 architecture, with AMD’s Mantle API. It has a clock speed of 918MHz and 2GB of memory with buffer running at 5.5Gbps.
AMD claims that the GPU delivers 3.29 teraflops of computing power. The company has bold claims with this new GPU as it believes it outperforms any GPU in its class running at 1080P resolution.
There will be a ‘Never Settle: Space edition’ game bundle that will include ‘Alien: Isolation’.
