Breaking News – Pakistan rights activist Sabeen Mahmud shot dead

Gunmen targeted Sabeena Mahmud on Friday after she hosted “Unsilencing Balochistan”, a seminar on the politics of the separatist insurgency in the Pakistan province. A foremost rights activist, Mahmud was the director of The Second Floor, T2f, a cafe and arts space that gave a platform to activists in Karachi.


She was killed soon after hosting an event on Balochistan’s ‘disappeared people’.

Mahmud, 40, was fatally gunned down as she left T2F (The Second Floor) following an event — a panel discussion titled “Unsilencing Balochistan” — in a shooting that also left her mother critically injured.
