Harper’s Bazaar organizes glittering jazz evening in New Delhi

India’s leading fashion and style magazine Harper’s Bazaar hosted a glittering evening of vintage jazz with ace designer Manish Arora and hair experts Toni&Guy at Dirty Martini, Olive Bar & Kitchen, in the Capital on Friday. The boudoir-themed party saw guests dressed in their classic best, flaunting beaded flapper dresses, pearl necklaces and hand-crafted embellished hair bands.

At a set inspired by the 1920s-with golden dressing tables, mirrors and ornaments- the elegant do witnessed three hair looks crafted specially for the show by Tony&Guy stylist Clint Fernandez. Styled to take care of the three moods of every fashionista- casual, classic and glamour- the hairstyles included glossy waves and curls, teamed with chic feathered hair bands and chain tikkas. The other highlight of the evening was designer Manish Arora’s Jazz Age dresses that included four dresses true to the style of the era.

While a cool blue toned flapper dress was showcased for the casual look, dressier styles included a cut-out pattern iridescent silver dress with a purple skirt, and a black sheath dress with gold architectural chain hangings reminiscent of The Great Gatsby by Baz Luhrmann. The showstopper of the evening was model Indrani Das Gupta who portrayed old-world glamour in a feathered skirt dress and a fur stole. While the designer wasn’t present at the show, he sent his wishes to the guests via a recorded message and expressed his pleasure over the collaboration for the event.

A live jazz band-complete with a female crooner, a cello artist, a guitarist and musicians- kitted out in clothing of the era also played through the lively night. Present at the evening were Harper’s Bazaar editor Nishat Fatima, designers Gauri & Nainika, and Malini Ramani among others from the fashion fraternity.
