James Rodriguez presented with his 2014 World Cup Golden Boot trophy

Colombia star James Rodriguez was given the Golden Boot on Friday for topping the scoring charts at the 2014 FIFA World Cup. The 23-year-old was presented with his award in Madrid for netting six goals in five matches for his country in Brazil.

However, James says being a part of Real Madrid`s starting eleven in each match is his only objective now. Considering the huge price-tag of £71m on him, the forward will hope to make immediate impact at the Santiago Bernabeu.

His exploits at the World Cup propelled Colombia to the quarter-finals of the tournament. James was considered as a bring young talent before, but he exploded in Brazil, which is why Real Madrid came calling for his signature.

Rodriguez has signed a six-month contract that will keep him in Spain until 2020. Speaking on the prospect of playing for the Los Blancos, he said: “I hope to win titles here. I am now in a club that is always hungry for titles. And I think that if you want to play here you must always keep a high level of performance. And I am prepared for that. I hope I can win everything here.”
