The Nagpur police have filed a case against Yoga guru Ramdev for his remark that has allegedly hurt the Dalit sentiments.
Addressing a gathering in Lucknow, Mr. Ramdev attacked Congress party vice-president Rahul Gandhi and was quoted as having said, “He [Mr. Gandhi] goes to Dalits’ houses for honeymoon and picnic. Had he married a Dalit girl, then his luck could have clicked and he would have become the Prime Minister.”
The Nagpur police has lodged a case based on a complaint filed by Deepak under Section 3 (1) (10) of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
Since the alleged incident took place in Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh, the Nagpur police will not investigate the matter, but will transfer the case to the concern police station.
“Since the alleged offence took place in Nagpur, we will be transferring the case to Lucknow. We have lodged a zero FIR based on the complaint made by a local,” Nagpur Police Commissioner K. Pathak told a national daily.
Several complaints have been filed against Yoga guru Ramdev for the remark, including an FIR by Lucknow police against him.
