Ponting needs cricket to highlight in 2024 Olympics

Previous Australian captain Ricky Ponting has said he needs cricket to be incorporated in the 2024 Olympic Games.

Talking at the MCC World Cricket board at Lord’s, the Australian extraordinary said that the Olympics are the zenith of worldwide games and to have the capacity to get cricket into the competition would be a ‘great scene’, BBC reported.

Ponting, who is the second most elevated Test run-scorer ever, said that it would be awesome for the development and improvement of the game.

The 40-year old additionally recommended that diversions would be played in a T20 position with sides made up of under-23 players, like the way football is arranged at the Olympics.

An announcement from the MCC World Cricket board of trustees read that the panel asks the ICC to reevaluate its position and take a choice that it accepts was to the greatest advantage of the worldwide amusement.

The announcement further said that this would should be done in the following 12 months for cricket to have a shot of being incorporated in the 2024 Olympics.
