Ricky Ponting has been drafted in by the Mumbai Indians to help turn their Indian Premier League fortunes around.
Mumbai, which has lost all four of its matches in the seventh IPL, has confirmed signing Ponting on for an ‘advisory role’.
The former Australian captain was part of the victorious Mumbai Indians side last season.
“I am looking forward to working with Mumbai Indians once again,” said Ponting, in Dubai.
“I had a fantastic season last summer and understand how passionate our players are towards the franchise. I believe we have the fire in us and we will strive hard to put our best.”
Lat night Mumbai Indians lost from Delhi Daredevils in their fourth match at Sharjah on Sunday.
